People who believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God are obliged by their faith to believe these 16 bizarre highlights of the Bible (and many more) are literally true. Those who think that the bizarre/contradictory/etc parts are similes, metaphors, parables or allegories must explain what's the criteria they use to identify which parts are to be taken literally and which ones are not literal. Why do they think, for instance, that the Gospels are true/mostly true and not just parables/allegories like the obnoxious parts of the Bible they don't like?
