In a statement last week, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (China CDC) in Beijing said the trial, which finished 4 years ago but was only published in August, violated ethical rules. The study's three China-based authors have been removed from their posts, while parents of the children who participated have been offered generous financial compensation.
