Richard O'Dwyer is a 24 year old British student at Sheffield Hallam University in the UK. He is facing extradition to the USA and up to ten years in prison, for creating a website – TVShack.net – which linked (similar to a search-engine) to places to watch TV and movies online.

O'Dwyer is not a US citizen, he's lived in the UK all his life, his site was not hosted there, and most of his users were not from the US. America is trying to prosecute a UK citizen for an alleged crime which took place on UK soil.

The internet as a whole must not tolerate censorship in response to mere allegations of copyright infringement. As citizens we must stand up for our rights online.

The strategy of mass circumcision is an unethical and dangerous distraction in the battle against HIV and AIDS. Intact America calls upon the governing bodies of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNAIDS to tell the truth: circumcision does not prevent AIDS. Will you help UNAIDS and the WHO get the message by signing our petition now?

Target: Prime Minister David Cameron

Goal: Prosecute female genital mutilation in the UK.

Since it was outlawed in 1985, not a single case of female genital mutilation (FGM) has been prosecuted. According to research by FORWARD, the leading UK charity working against FGM, approximately 66,000 girls have been mutilated in the UK, and 24,000 girls under 16 in England and Wales could be at risk of FGM.

The Heartland Institute claims that the "most prominent advocates of global warming" are "murderers, tyrants, and madmen" like Ted Kaczynski, Charles Manson, and Osama Bin Laden. Any corporation that cares about climate change needs to stop funding Heartland immediately.

The reason why we should care about her is this: The state of Texas is sentencing a young girl to a night of jail for being too emotionally and physically exhausted to go to school. The institutions that are to provide resources to youth and ensure justice are instead punishing her like a criminal and fining her $100.

In response to the concerns of more than 150,000 people, a growing number of corporations have ended their support of the climate change-denying Heartland Institute, costing Heartland more than $800,000. Check out our progress below and then add your voice to push Heartland’s remaining corporate supporters to pull their support immediately!

HM the Queen, in her first speech to the British Parliament in two years, announced albeit briefly the U.K. government’s plan to monitor all Web activity in the country.

It puts the U.K. en par with the United States, Russia, and China in how it monitors its citizens’ Web activity.

Elections Canada has just traced illegal phone calls made during the 2011 federal election to a company that worked for the Conservative Party across the country.

The “robocalls” appeared to be designed to stop non-Conservative voters from casting ballots in key ridings by falsely telling voters that the location of their polling stations had changed, causing them to go to the wrong location on election day.1

This news casts doubt on the legitimacy of their majority Government. The Conservatives only narrowly won their majority by 6,201 votes in 14 ridings.2

We need answers and real consequences that lay the foundation for new laws to protect the integrity of Canadian elections.

The press release is a non-stop firehose of misinformation and spin, but among the venom-dripping things they say, one bit of crazy stands out:

The people who still believe in man-made global warming are mostly on the radical fringe of society. This is why the most prominent advocates of global warming aren’t scientists. They are murderers, tyrants, and madmen.

I’m joining the Forecast the Facts campaign to hold meteorologists accountable on climate change. It starts by calling on the American Meteorological Society to issue a strong statement on climate change.
See the petition

I urge the AMS Council to immediately pass a new information statement that reflects the widespread scientific consensus that climate change is increasingly impacting our planet, and then vigorously promote that statement to AMS members.

The Heartland Institute claims that the "most prominent advocates of global warming" are "murderers, tyrants, and madmen" like Ted Kaczynski, Charles Manson, and Osama Bin Laden. Heartland's outrageous climate denial is funded by major corporations, including Microsoft, State Farm, and Pfizer.

These billboards are not only outlandish, they are deeply offensive. Any corporation that cares about climate change, or about their reputation, needs to stop funding Heartland immediately.

Now, with CISPA, the clampdown on Internet freedom comes in the guise of a bill aimed at cyber terrorism that should give Internet entrepreneurs - and all business leaders - nightmares. And yet, this time, major Internet and technology companies, including Facebook and Microsoft, supported the bill, on the grounds that it would create a clear procedure for handling government requests for information. Microsoft, at least, belatedly dropped its support after recognising that the law would allow the US government to force any Internet business to hand over information about its users' online activities.

The US House will be voting on CISPA on Friday. With President Obama threatening to veto the bill if it reaches his desk unamended, the tech companies in support of this bill are becoming increasingly isolated. If we can peel them off, it's unlikely CISPA will pass unless radically altered.

The next 24 hours will be critical. Use the buttons to the right to email your friends and family, or to share on Twitter, Facebook, and Tumblr.

Dear AT&T, Facebook, Microsoft, Verizon, and all the companies supporting CISPA,

We believe that cyber security is important, but it should not come at the expense of our civil liberties. As your users, and because we value our privacy, we urge you to stand up for our rights and drop your support of the the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act.

What is Facebook thinking?  They've signed on in support of CISPA -- the new bill that would obliterate online privacy, give the military crazy new abilities to spy on the Internet, and potentially let ISPs block sites and cut off users accused of piracy.

CISPA Is The New SOPA: Help Kill It

Here's their next move: The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act, or CISPA, would obliterate any semblance of online privacy in the United States.  It's up for a vote later this month.

CISPA would provide a victory for content owners who were shell-shocked by the unprecedented outpouring of activism in opposition to SOPA and Internet censorship.

Electronic Arts (EA) -- one of the largest video game makers in the world - is the target of a hateful boycott campaign. Why? Because they gave players the option to include a gay romance story in one of their most popular games: Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Anti-gay letters are flooding Electronic Arts headquarters, calling for a boycott. Without our help the company, its staff and more than 100 million registered players could be pushed to the dark side if the forces of hate get the last word.

Master Yoda wants to make sure Electronic Arts knows anti-gay haters don't win the game. Add your name to Yoda's letter urging the company to stay away from the dark side. Yoda himself will deliver the message directly to the headquarters of Electronics Arts in Redwood City, California.
